Eco-Chic Repurposing in 1.2.3 :: Glass Jars

Contributing to the environment doesn’t have to be a big melodramatic fair. It starts with simple things that contribute to your everyday life and fortunately support the environment.
Todays’ Eco-Chic Repurpose in 1.2.3 focuses on glass jars you may recycle or throw out several times a week. Everything from spaghetti sauce to jelly jars can be thoroughly washed and reused.
Here are 1.2.3 ways to reuse glass jars:

1. Food Storage
I think glass storage for food and other items can be useful (obviously because now you see where everything is) and aesthetically pleasing. Store your bulk items from your local co-op or store.

2. Gifts
Make a batch of vegan chocolate chip cookies or any lil tidbits friends and family may enjoy. After they thoroughly cool, line the bottom of your jar with a square sheet of parchment paper. Stack your cookies in the jar. This obviously can be used for your own cookie stash but makes a wonderful rustic gift.
If you don’t want to bake the cookies yourself, put the dried ingredients in layers for your fave recipe accompanied by instructions.
Another gift idea for jars is bath salts.
Lavender Mint Bath Salt
In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of Epsom salt and 1 cup sea salt. Add 2 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 drops of a mint essential oil. To this, add 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves. Package in one of your clean jars. Decorate and Gift!

3. Home and Craft Organizers
Buttons, pens, coins, pins… you name it, your organize and store it. You can then distribute them on a bookshelf as decorating accents or store in one are for easy access.
What other ways can you repurpose your glass jars?

we use glass jars for drinking glasses, rather than buying what we already get through food purchases for free! it freaks people out the first time they ask for a drink in our house, but they quickly get used to it. also, when they break, it’s no loss to me i just recycle and replenish with my next jar of jam…

I LOVE using glass jars. I reuse all of my glass jars for food storage, and I also use Mason jars, which are freezer-safe (the wide mouth jars)
I used to return the jam/preserve jars to the farmers I purchased them from, but now I use them for drinking.
It really does help to see what and how much everything is.
Great photos!
